The British company turns old underground bunkers to vertical farms

The company Growing Underground grows fresh vegetables and greens in underground bomb shelters of military time using hydroponics and LEDs.

The London firm converts old abandoned bunkers located at a depth of 33 meters to vertical farms. All products are grown there in an artificial environment without the use of soil and pesticides.

Hydroponic technology provides plants with all necessary nutrients, and LED panels are responsible for the light for photosynthesis and heating.

The company supplies its products to the large network of Wole Foods supermarkets, as well as some local restaurants. Growing Underground plans to expand the business outside the British capital and hopes that entrepreneurs in other cities of the world organize similar projects to save agricultural space.
